Gonzalo Martin Rodriguez
Spanish violist Gonzalo Martin Rodriguez began his musical training in Bilbao. An avid chamber musician and soloist, he has performed in some of the most reputed concert halls of Europe and United States including Carnegie Hall, Jordan hall, Gewandhaus Leipzig, Musikverein Wien, Philharmonie Berlin and Sendesaal Bremen. As a soloist he also collaborated with the Hamburger Symphoniker, Bilbao Symphony Orchestra and the Deusto Chamber Orchestra.

He is a top prizewinner in the 2017 International Anton Rubinstein Competition for Viola as well as a two-time winner of the Ensemblewettbewerb HMT Leipzig. Additionally, Gonzalo has participated in chamber music festivals and fellowships throughout Europe and the United States, including Lenk Musiksommer, the Prussia Cove International Musicians Seminar, the Harmos Festival concerts, and the 2017 and 2018 Ravinia’s Steans’ Music Institute.

He completed his Bachelor and Masters of Music at HMT Leipzig under the tutelage of Professor Tatjana Masurenko and a GD in Boston with the guidance of Kim Kashkashian and plays a modern viola made by Jürgen Manthey in 2015.
